This is a real treasure. There is a certain Malcolm Starr period of time where they were making the most exceptional beaded pieces in the British Crown Colony. These pieces, like this little perfect dress, are very high quality and very well made. A modern equivalent would surely cost several thousands if the work was replicated. If it even could be which I doubt! Glass tube and seed beads completely cover the exterior in a dense covering from shoulder to hem. Worked in and amongst those are trailing vines created from tube beads. These vines are decorated with pink and clear rhinestones like pretty pastel drops of dew. This detailing is on both the front and back. Because of the dense covering it has a good solid weight to it which, once on, balances perfectly and feels comfortable to wear. Really extraordinary and a real treasure! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in pink silk and it closes with a back painted metal zipper. I see no bare areas of bead work. Note that it was too small to fully close on the mannequin - it does do up entirely in the back in the right sized girl.
